Orion's Practice Management software manages clients, contacts, cases, e-mail, to-do's, docket, calendar items and documents.
Orion has combined a powerful and intuitive user interface with the flexibility and sophistication required by the largest law firms.
From one screen you can view contacts, standard and custom data, related contacts, cases, e-mails, events and documents. Using the E-mail Manager and Document Library, e-mails and documents are automatically related to the proper contact or case. And, of course, it completely integrates with Orion's client and matter time & billing data base. The Electronic Client Intake Process allows the front office to initiate a new case and send it around (work flow) to be fully completed prior to formally opening the case. Time can also be automatically captured by performing designated actions. This time is then passed over to the billing system for inclusion in Work-in-Process.

System Design
Orion developed the Practice Management module to be highly flexible. Each user can create her own profile(s) and save it, so every time she logs in, it knows how she prefers to see the data. This flexibility includes which columns to view, whether they sort in ascending or descending order and where the borders lie with each section on the screen. Furthermore, the user can drag application icons onto the desktop and launch them without leaving Orion.
With a huge volume of information, the key is being able to find what you are looking for. Say you want to find all cases in Minnesota; easy. Looking for every person whose name is Michael? Done. How about locating all the family law cases? Piece of cake. All custom fields & even date fields are available as part of the look up.

The E-Mail Manager is designed to work with Outlook version 98 or higher and GroupWise version 6.0 or higher. E-mail can be sent directly by selecting the desired contact. E-mails are automatically recorded or "journalized" with the contact, case or event. Incoming e-mail can be dragged and dropped from Outlook or GroupWise into Orion or Orion's E-mail Manager. The E-mail Manager has e-mail memory: allows you to link e-mail senders with certain cases or contacts. Once memorized, e-mail is journalized automatically.
